
Knight Liu Wen Lung returns home to find his village sacked and wife slain by rampaging bandits led by Chou Chao. He meets Chou later and wounds him with a dart. Facing certain death, Chou chops off his wounded arm and flees. Liu sets out with son Yu Lang, student Hu Chi Feng and servant Wang Fu to track his foe down but fails to find him. Three ears elapse Liu raises orphan Yu Shan, the daughter of a woman killed by Hu in an abortive rape attempt. Living in seclusion in his friend Lin’s manor, Liu teaches Yu Lang and Yu Shan his secret method of fighting. The two youngsters fall in love but the affair is complicated by Lin’s daughter Hsiang Chin’s feelings for Yu Lang. One day Golden Light Monk, the number two man of a neighbouring bandit gang, calls at the Lin household to demand the surrender of his wealth on pain of his family’s death. Attempting to stall the gang, Yu Lang inadvertently discovers their number three men to be Hu, his father’s ex-student. Yu Shan now meets up with Hu, who falsely accuses Liu of her mother’s death. He claims the murder weapon is the type of dart wielded exclusively by Lin. Wang Fu confirms this and Yu Shan leaves Liu to move in with Hu. In return for past favors however, Yu Shan rescues Liu, who has in the meantime been captured by the gang. The gang chief turns out to be Chou Chao. He summons Liu to a duel to the death. Realizing she’s been deceived by Hu, Yu Shan rushes to Liu’s aid with Wang Fu and Yu Lang. The entire gang is wiped out in the savage fight which follows.
