The Ming Dynasty has been overthrown and is to be expected there are still those who believe that the Ming Court should be reestablished as ruler of China. And as you do with any rebellion you suppress it by killing any Ming supporting rebels. A Ming supporting village in the north has been attacked and razed and the surviving daughter and mother of a rebellion leader flee south for protection. Unbeknownst to Hi Jiayu and his friends, their teacher, Uncle Zhang, leads the Ming rebellion group in their village. When the women’s attackers arrive in their village their peaceful and blissfully ignorant lives are interrupted with violence and what was once a life filled with youthful antics and mischief the surviving children must now take up their peer’s fight and defend themselves against oppression.
