Rich Merchant Lin Hsing-fa (Hsu Ying-hsiu) seriously ill in the U.S.A. makes a will that his hefty assets be bequeathed to his long out-of-contact grandson Tien-chi (Wilson Lam Chun-yin) in Hong Kong on condition that he marry within one month without, however, disclosing the legacy secret to his future wife or else it will be forfeited to his nephew Robert (Kuan Chao-chung). Overhearing this, Robert rushes to Hong Kong trying to stop by hook or by crook Tien-chi from getting access to the fortune and to reap it for himself.
Not a good lover, Tien-chi, a filial son, has no girlfriend at 30 and is often jeered by his cousin Chi (Wong Jing). He strikes up an acquaintance with Lo Hsiao-hsiao (Michelle Reis) when she applies for an advertising model. The two begin to fall for each other and Hsiao-hsiao introduces him to her brother Chang-chien (Cheng Kuei-an). Robert tricks Hsiao-hsiao into a misunderstanding with Tien-chi’s mother Tso Hsiang-hsiang (Teng Pi-yun) and the latter ingratiates her to alienate her son from Hsiao-hsiao.
When told of the legacy for her son from Hsing-fa’s assistant Stone (Anders Nelson), Hsiang-hsiang hurriedly introduces one girl after another to her son, but without success. Finally, she has no choice but to introduce her niece Tsing (Mei Hsiao-hui) to him as a standby marriage candidate. Tien-chi resents this.
Tien-chi perchance gets acquainted with a famous model Feng Mu-jen (Nina Li Chi) and falls for her, but she turns out to be a love swindler hired by Robert. Hsiang-hsiang casually overhears their plot and tries to trap Mu-jen but ends up being assaulted and thrown out by her. This adversely deepens Tien-chi’s affection for Mu-jen, while Hsiang-hsiang’s other efforts to expose Mu-jen’s plot also prove to no avail.
Robert is eventually double-crossed by Mu-jen who decides to marry Tien-chi to reap all the fortune for herself. Trying to stop this, Robert is drugged by Mu-jen.
On the last day of the deadline, Mu-jen is waiting in the Church to marry Tien-chi, as the others are at their wits’ end preventing it. How will the story end?.
